Camera Deals at Walmart

February 21, 2013

If you’re anything like me, you’re feeling an insatiable urge to leave town right about now. Returning may or may not be in the cards, depending on your destination. Spring throws us a bone every couple days, teasing us with a warm, sunny day, but winter continues to cling to life, refusing to release us from its icy grip. Our only respite? Vacation. Sweet, blissful, glorious, vacation. And I’m not talking about a short road trip; I’m talking about a full-fledged, jump on a plane, break out the suitcase, sunscreen, swim trunks and flip-flops sort of vacation.

One of the more important aspects of vacationing, is taking photographs and video, in order to capture all of the memories. So today, in order to satisfy my cruel and crippling daydreams, I’m going to talk about camera deals at Walmart. Shopping with KickItBack will earn you an additional 2% cash back on your camera purchase!

First thing’s first: Wherever you go, you’re going to want to capture each and every moment so that when you’re back home, waiting out the cold weather like the rest of us poor schlubs, you can go through your photos and videos and relive the bliss you found during your stay in paradise. Personally, I’m a big fan of a good ol’ DSLR. You may not know that term, DSLR, but you know the type of camera: Their the cameras with the big bodies and changeable lenses. The DSLR can set you back a pretty penny, depending on the brand and the model, but you have a lot more control over the images and video you take.

You can save money when buying a DSLR by choosing to go with an entry-level model, and by buying it bundled with a lens. Take the Canon EOS Rebel T3 bundle from Walmart. For just $479 (normally $549), you get the camera body, a versatile 18-55mm Canon lens, a 16 GB SDHD memory card, a 4 GB SD memory card, a Targus 58″ tripod, and a Canon gear bag. Not a bad deal at all!

Let’s say the DSLR isn’t for you. A point-and-shoot may be right up your alley! These bad boys are a lot more compact, and quite frankly, a bit easier to use for the — what’s the opposite of a shutterbug? — users out there. In addition, point-and-shoot cameras tend to be significantly cheaper on the whole.

Check out the Nikon COOLPIX S3300, for example. At just $79 (normally $139), you get a quality 16 MP camera, an 8 GB SD memory card and a carrying case. Or maybe you’re more interested in getting some of those awesome underwater shots. In that case, you’ll need something a big more rugged, like the Nikon COOLPIX AW100 camera. The casing on these cameras is waterproof and much more durable than your average camera. Beat this thing up all you want! For just $249 (normally $349), you get the camera, an 8 GB SD memory card and a carrying case.

If the Nikon COOLPIX AW100 isn’t rugged enough for you, or you prefer to take footage of your craziest stunts and adventures, the GoPro HERO3 is your best bet. The White edition with a 16 GB micro SD card is now only $199 at Walmart. The newer edition is WiFi enabled, allowing you to upload your pictures or videos immediately. The case and mounting hardware are also included, allowing you to mount the camera to your helmet or any other surface.

Speaking of the GoPro, check out this video shot entirely with the HERO3:

Now get out there and swim with the sharks! And don’t forget to film it! Also, remember to shop with KickItBack to earn your 2% cash back reward. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates on the hottest new deals of the season.
