Hi shoppers!
It’s Jenny, a fellow KickItBack shopper who loves to earn cash back while stocking my closet with adorable fashion finds!
Can you believe it’s already time to set our clocks ahead for daylight saving time this weekend? I’m really hoping that the time change will trigger a warm weather change so I can begin wearing all the springtime fashion pieces I’ve slowly been collecting over these cold, weary months.
Even if you haven’t been squirreling away warm weather pieces like I have (seriously, my closet door should feature an avalanche warning sign), there are lots of retailers who are pumping up their spring must-have’s with some great sales that will get you stocked and ready in no time.
Can I get an ‘Amen’ for the fashion-world finally lowering the hemlines on springtime skirts and dresses? As a taller than average shopper (5’9’’) I am so excited that I’ll be able to embrace this season’s skirts and dresses without the fear of flashing my coworkers with springtime zeal.
Look at this adorable sunny-striped maxi dress by Aeropostale.
Add a little denim jacket to help keep the chill away on those chilly springtime mornings, and you’re good to go! It’s 95% cotton and 5% spandex and has adjustable straps and a smocked back. The hi-low hemline adds the touch of 2013 without making it too dated to wear next year.
And for only $20.00, how could you go wrong? Plus, you can earn 2% cash back when you shop through KickItBack, which just brightens the deal even more!
I debated whether or not to write about this next piece because I’m a little concerned about giving away my frugal little secret. I mean, I appreciate high-quality brands and fancy things as much as the next girl, but I don’t want to come across as cheap to the entire realm of the internet.
I’d been looking for a fun pleated maxi skirt for the spring. You know, something that I could wear to work but also dress up for a baby shower or dress down for an afternoon at the park with my kiddos. A flexible wardrobe piece like that doesn’t just fall into your lap, and rarely does it come at a cheap price.
This is where my ever-faithful KickItBack retailer, Target comes in. Check out this little number.
Yep! A fabulous pleated maxi skirt that is under $15.00, has a five-star rating and comes in a variety of pretty colors. The online ratings were both posted by women who were also 5’9’’ and they said the length was perfect. I was so excited, I bought, not one, but two of them and earned a sassy little 1.5% cash back with KickItBack as the icing on the cake.
When my skirts arrived, I was a little stunned; the package was actually very heavy and I was wondering what else I had purchased that I had forgotten about. When I opened up the shipping bag, it was just my two skirts and a little bit of packing material. The weight came from the skirts themselves. They are so soft, not sheer at all and the length is perfect. If it wasn’t weird to wear them to bed, I would — they are that soft!
I was a little stumped when it came time to pairing my new pleated maxi skirts with a top. What in the world do you wear with a bold piece like that? Luckily, I asked my good friend, Pinterest, and there were tons of great image-inspirations for me to choose from. (By the way, did you know KickItBack has their own Pinterest account? You should follow it, then we’ll follow you and be best Pinterest-friends forever! Yay, internet!)
Anyway, back to my non-life threatening wardrobe issue.
Based on my in depth Pinterest research, I decided to pair my skirts with a light chambray button up shirt. Is the chambray shirt trend a new one? Nope. It just takes me awhile to get into fashion trends sometimes. It’s like I need to see it in action multiple times from real people in my area to truly believe it’s actually a “thing”. Sure, I may see lots of models wearing stuff in magazines, but you know if I showed up to my kids’ school in tight neon pants and an off-the-shoulder shirt made of netting, I’d look like a crazy-person, no matter how hot the trend may be in the fashion world.
I decided to start my 2013 chambray hunt at Old Navy so I could earn 2% cash back with my late-to-the-party fashion purchase and I was not disappointed!
This is the one I found:

I’m still a little leery about pairing chambray with actual denim, but I hear it can be done. I’m not quite that hip yet, nor am I a cattle rancher.
Old Navy had a ton of chambray colors to choose from and they were even available in petite and tall sizes. (High-five, Old Navy!)
Are you planning on trying any new fashion trends this spring? Don’t forget to do your online shopping with KickItBack so you can earn cash back on all those fun fashion purchases!
Happy shopping!
March 7, 2013
I hope you are getting to enjoy some delicious food, a family game or two, and maybe even a cozy nap on the couch while the kids busy themselves with a movie. Ah…sounds like a great day to me!
I love shopping, and the deep discounts of Black Friday have always been like a seductive siren’s song to my deal-loving wallet. But since I’ve had children, the value of sleep has greatly risen in my life. There’s just no way I want to drag myself out of bed before dawn to wait outside for a toy sale.
These days some stores are opening up on Thanksgiving evening, which is an option that appeals to me until I look at the clock and realize that I’d much rather cuddle up with my kids and a good puzzle instead.
But those savvy retailers know how much I love online shopping too and they have extended so many great deals this year, I may be able to get the majority of my Christmas shopping done with a few clicks of the mouse.
Of course, whenever I shop online, I always check out my trusty savings sidekick, KickItBack! Why stop at great online deals when I can add cash-back to my shopping success too?
With so many retailers on the KickItBack site, it’s pretty easy to find something you need and grab a great deal. Here are some of items I’ve got my eye on this year.
LEGO Basic Bricks
My seven year old has lots of LEGO kits, but with this collection of 650 basic LEGO bricks, he could have the freedom to create whatever he wants!
At the LEGO Shop, I can get the bricks for $29.99 and also earn a free reusable LEGO tote bag to wrap it up in with my purchase!
The LEGO online shop has lots of online-only exclusives too, such as a set with Santa and his sleigh and a really cute winter village scene. When I shop online with KickItBack, I’ll earn 1.5% cash back.
Crayola Light Sketcher
The Crayola store is offering lots of rebates on some of their most popular items right now, including this nifty Light Sketcher.
Spray paint, stencils and any flat surface? What kid wouldn’t think this was awesome?
I’m not sure if this toy will end up making a huge mess or not, but I can bet that my kids would love it. I especially like that it’s on sale for $19.99 and has a $3 rebate available on it.
When I shop online at the Crayola store with KickItBack, I’ll earn 5% cash back which always makes me happy!
The Disney Store
There is no Disney Store where I live, so I often check them out online to see what cuteness they’ve gathered for me to drool over. I mean, for my five year old to drool over.
I love that KickItBack offers me 1.5% cash back on all my Little Mermaid Disney purchases for my kids. (Seriously, Little Mermaid is the BEST! Let me know if you need a lady in her thirties to recite any lines at your next get-together and I’ll be right over.)
My five year old has been obsessed with tutus since she could stand, and she often tries to wear them to bed. I have been trying to convince her that this is a strange idea, but Disney has come up with some adorable jammies that include removable tutus!
Well played, Disney Store, well played!
There are six different tutu styles to choose from and they range in price from $12.99 to $15.00. I see the purchase as a 2-for-1, since my daughter would definitely find ways to incorporate that tutu into more outfits than just her nighttime jammies!
Where’s Perry?
Another favorite of mine the kids is Disney’s hit series, Phineas and Ferb. If you’ve seen even one episode of this creative show, then you know how awesome Perry the Platypus is.
The Disney Store has the perfect 10’’ version of Agent P to tuck snugly inside a stocking or two (or three) for only $5.00. He’s even available as “Perry the Platypus” or his secret identity, Agent P.
$5.00 for a Perry plush and 1.5% cash back with KickItBack makes this mom very happy!
Three Cheers for Kohl’s
Kohl’s has always been a fun place to shop online, especially when you can earn 2% cash back with KickItBack, and get Kohl’s cash to spend on your next purchase!
They have some really good Black Friday deals going on this year between Nov 21 and Nov. 25! Plus, you can earn $15 Kohl’s cash for every $50 you spend online now until 3pm CST on Friday, Nov. 23.
My son isn’t really into Disney tutu jammies, so I’ll probably opt to grab him a pair or two of the cozy LEGO Star Wars pajama pants for the Black Friday price of $8.80.
For the Barbie girl in your life, Kohl’s has a great deal on the Barbie Tawny Walking Horse & Doll Gift Set for just $19.99! It’s regularly $42.99 so my deal-sense is tingling with this one!
What are some of your favorite Black Friday KickItBack deals?
Good luck hunting and shopping and be sure to have yourself a great Thanksgiving!

There’s a tradition in my family that started a few years ago that still somewhat confuses me.
Some out-of-town relatives decided that Halloween was the ideal time to come for a visit, so no matter what day the holiday falls on, we can be sure that we’ll have company.
Don’t get me wrong; we love our family visitors, but Halloween never really seemed like a family-gathering occasion to me. Now it has grown to include not only our out of town guests, but a few family friends as well.
I love planning a get together, but when that get together falls on a work night and school night, things get a bit tricky. Especially when a meal is involved. (Something tells me my boss wouldn’t appreciate it if I left early that day to go make dinner and get the goodies ready for the kids.)
Last year I stumbled across a really fun Halloween recipe for stuffed peppers carved to look like jack-o-lanterns. They were a huge hit, but this year I needed to find something a bit less complicated (and with my basic cooking skills, I’m looking for REALLY simple, folks!) and I think I’m in luck!

This year for the Random Family Halloween gathering, I’ll be making a big batch of Pumpkin Turkey Chili!
Wait! Come back here!
I know it sounds weird, but the recipe promises to take only 30 minutes, and I can even chop up some of the ingredients the night before, so hopefully I can trim that time frame down even more.
But here’s the kicker: My kitchen is woefully stocked and I have even had friends come over and bring their own knives and cutting boards because they know they’ll never find what they need at our place.
But where I lack in kitchen prowess, I excel in online shopping skillz! (Yes, I meant to spell that with a ‘Z’! My skills are just THAT amazing!)
I have to give KickItBack much of that credit, though. Sure, there are a ton of people out there who shop at Macys.com, Walmart.com and Target.com, but not all of them are doing it while earning cash back on their purchases.
I am on the hunt for a nice large skillet. Not the most exciting thing to purchase online, but if I can score a good deal and avoid driving around town (while paying over $4.00 a gallon in gas) then I’m IN!
While my cooking skills may be meager, I still know the value of a good brand. Macy’s is currently having a promotion where all non-stick Calphalon cookware is 20% off until 10/27.
Check out this little beauty: The Calaphon Contemporary Nonstick Bronze Covered 5 Qt. Saute Pan, now on sale for $99.99 until Oct. 20.
Stay cool handle? Check!
Oven safe up to 450 degrees? Double check!
Wait a minute. Is a ‘saute pan’ the same thing as a ‘large skillet’? Shoot…I’m already feeling out of my element, but I still think this pretty bronze baby would be a HUGE upgrade to my kitchen paraphernalia.
When I shop at Macys.com with KickItBack, I can also earn 1.5% cash back on my purchase. Now that’s a PAN-tastic deal! (Pan-puns = Awesome.)
Target features the Kitchen Essentials by Calaphon brand and had lots of pans that qualify for free shipping if your purchase is $50 or more.
I like the 12’’ nonstick jumbo frying pan for $49.99, even though I’ll still need to add something else to my cart to qualify for that free shipping. Tricky, tricky, Target. But I forgive you. I’m sure my kitchen could use a new spatula or two while I’m on my mission to beef up my kitchen.
Plus, since I’m earning 1.5% cash back when I shop with KickItBack, online shopping just puts me in a spectacular mood.
Speaking of spectacular, did you know they make such a thing as a personal pie maker?
The Bella Four Slice Pie Maker comes in a cheery shade of red and can knock out four mini pies in one electronic miracle baking session!
It’s available at Target for $27.99 and I think it may be just what I need to impress those out-of-town Halloween guests!
Sure, pumpkin turkey chili may sound strange, but there’s got to be some bonus points I could earn for personal apple pies served up for dessert, right?
Happy autumn, everyone!
