Hottest Kids Video Games of 2011

December 10, 2011

We posted a blog earlier in the week about some of the hottest video games of the holiday shopping season, and today we’re going to go one step further by talking about some of the most-desired children’s video games of 2011. Christmas is sneaking up fast, so make sure to grab these games up for that mini-gamer on your shopping list before they’re all sold out!

Cars 2

Based on the popular movies, Cars 2 the game picks up where the last movie left off, at Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage. Play as one of 20 fantastic characters and take part in missions, maneuvers and rescues.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

No “best of” video games list would ever be complete with everyone’s favorite plumbers! Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an imaginative take on the franchise that sees Mario traveling through tons of different galaxies from the candy-themed planets to giant wooden puzzles in the sky. There are so many great new additions to this game that we could write an entire blog devoted to just this game, so take our word for it: No Wii game collection is complete without this one!

Donkey Kong Country Returns

Speaking of classic franchises that no gamer self-respecting gamer can go without, Donkey Kong Country Returns will make anyone on your list happy. This is a fantastic upgrade to the series, as the player takes control of our protagonist as he swings from vines, launches out of barrels, and rides in a mining cart. This game will satisfy everyone from the old-school gamer to the younger generations.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Sometimes the only way to progress is to stick to the tried-and-true. That’s exactly what Nintendo did with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Forget the 3D action; 2D is the only way to go with this franchise! Though this game may not totally impress the younger gamer on your list, it just might be one of those games that you play more often than not!

Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom

Making fantastic use of the Wii’s motion-sensitive controllers, Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom will keep you kids captivated for hours. But that doesn’t mean their impressionable little brains won’t be actively engaged the entire time! Explore a wintery landscape with Dora’s sidekick, Boots, reenacting the plot from the movie of the same name!

Dance Dance Revolution Disney Grooves

Taking its name from the popular arcade game, Dance Dance Revolution Disney Grooves will have your kids shaking their booties all over the place, and having the times of their lives with their favorite Disney characters! This game comes with a special floor mat controller, and includes a soundtrack full of Disney classics to get everyone in the family up and moving!

Wii Party

Wii Party is a fantastic party game for young gamers. Choose from numerous games that can take between 10 minutes and an hour to complete, from challenging mind games and puzzles to fun, action-based physical movement games. Don’t worry, these games aren’t too tough to handle for the average kindergartener!
