Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas
October 25, 2012
Halloween is less than a week away, and seeing as how the holiday falls on a Monday it’s safe to assume most people will be celebrating on Friday and Saturday. If you haven’t decided on a costume yet, now’s the time to start panicking!
Maybe you just haven’t had enough time to come up with your costume, or maybe you can’t decide between a couple great ideas; either way, we’re here to help with some great last-minute suggestions and Halloween costume retailers. Don’t forget: All costume retailers have special KickBack rates through October 31!
DIY Costume Ideas
Let’s say you’re looking for a costume that will really set you apart from the crowd. Let’s also say that you’re very technically inclined and happen to have a few pieces of technology at your disposal. Well, you may just want to go as a functioning digital camera!

The costume itself is made mostly of cardboard and a 5-gallon bucket (with painstaking detail, mind you), while the inside has an actual Nikon DSLR, and an old Dell monitor for instant viewing! Check out how he did it here and here.
Here’s a classic: Elliott from E.T.! Not only will your costume be a hit, it’ll be incredibly easy to make as well! All you need is a red zip-up hoodie (hood up, of course!), some handlebars, a basket, an E.T. doll (or a print-out of E.T.’s face on cardboard, and a white sheet. Put it all together, and what do you get?

If you’re looking for another easy costume, go as Waldo! Chances are, you spent the better part of your childhood searching for Waldo, so why not become Waldo? Even if it’s just one night! All you need to make this one happen is a red and white striped sweater and beanie, some black-rimmed glasses and a cane. Voila!

You can’t go wrong with a Muppets costume. They may take a bit more work, but the payoff is totally worth it! Not only is there an absolute plethora of characters to choose from, but you also get a bit of creative freedom when creating your costume. Perhaps the most popular Muppet costume around is Beaker.

Check out these easy-to-follow instructions for building your own Beaker costume. If you’re really brave, try to build an Animal or Gonzo costume from scratch!
