Spring Forward and Shop!

March 7, 2013

Hi shoppers!

It’s Jenny, a fellow KickItBack shopper who loves to earn cash back while stocking my closet with adorable fashion finds!

Can you believe it’s already time to set our clocks ahead for daylight saving time this weekend? I’m really hoping that the time change will trigger a warm weather change so I can begin wearing all the springtime fashion pieces I’ve slowly been collecting over these cold, weary months.

Even if you haven’t been squirreling away warm weather pieces like I have (seriously, my closet door should feature an avalanche warning sign), there are lots of retailers who are pumping up their spring must-have’s with some great sales that will get you stocked and ready in no time.

Aeropostale

Can I get an ‘Amen’ for the fashion-world finally lowering the hemlines on springtime skirts and dresses? As a taller than average shopper (5’9’’) I am so excited that I’ll be able to embrace this season’s skirts and dresses without the fear of flashing my coworkers with springtime zeal.

Look at this adorable sunny-striped maxi dress by Aeropostale.

Aeropostale | KickItBack | Cash back shoppingAdd a little denim jacket to help keep the chill away on those chilly springtime mornings, and you’re good to go! It’s 95% cotton and 5% spandex and has adjustable straps and a smocked back. The hi-low hemline adds the touch of 2013 without making it too dated to wear next year.

And for only $20.00, how could you go wrong? Plus, you can earn 2% cash back when you shop through KickItBack, which just brightens the deal even more!

Target

I debated whether or not to write about this next piece because I’m a little concerned about giving away my frugal little secret. I mean, I appreciate high-quality brands and fancy things as much as the next girl, but I don’t want to come across as cheap to the entire realm of the internet.

I’d been looking for a fun pleated maxi skirt for the spring. You know, something that I could wear to work but also dress up for a baby shower or dress down for an afternoon at the park with my kiddos. A flexible wardrobe piece like that doesn’t just fall into your lap, and rarely does it come at a cheap price.

This is where my ever-faithful KickItBack retailer, Target comes in. Check out this little number.

Yep! A fabulous pleated maxi skirt that is under $15.00, has a five-star rating and comes in a variety of pretty colors. The online ratings were both posted by women who were also 5’9’’ and they said the length was perfect. I was so excited, I bought, not one, but two of them and earned a sassy little 1.5% cash back with KickItBack as the icing on the cake.

When my skirts arrived, I was a little stunned; the package was actually very heavy and I was wondering what else I had purchased that I had forgotten about. When I opened up the shipping bag, it was just my two skirts and a little bit of packing material. The weight came from the skirts themselves. They are so soft, not sheer at all and the length is perfect. If it wasn’t weird to wear them to bed, I would — they are that soft!

Old Navy

I was a little stumped when it came time to pairing my new pleated maxi skirts with a top. What in the world do you wear with a bold piece like that? Luckily, I asked my good friend, Pinterest, and there were tons of great image-inspirations for me to choose from. (By the way, did you know KickItBack has their own Pinterest account? You should follow it, then we’ll follow you and be best Pinterest-friends forever! Yay, internet!)

Anyway, back to my non-life threatening wardrobe issue.

Based on my in depth Pinterest research, I decided to pair my skirts with a light chambray button up shirt. Is the chambray shirt trend a new one? Nope. It just takes me awhile to get into fashion trends sometimes. It’s like I need to see it in action multiple times from real people in my area to truly believe it’s actually a “thing”. Sure, I may see lots of models wearing stuff in magazines, but you know if I showed up to my kids’ school in tight neon pants and an off-the-shoulder shirt made of netting, I’d look like a crazy-person, no matter how hot the trend may be in the fashion world.

I decided to start my 2013 chambray hunt at Old Navy so I could earn 2% cash back with my late-to-the-party fashion purchase and I was not disappointed!

This is the one I found:

I’m still a little leery about pairing chambray with actual denim, but I hear it can be done. I’m not quite that hip yet, nor am I a cattle rancher.

Old Navy had a ton of chambray colors to choose from and they were even available in petite and tall sizes. (High-five, Old Navy!)

Are you planning on trying any new fashion trends this spring? Don’t forget to do your online shopping with KickItBack so you can earn cash back on all those fun fashion purchases!

Happy shopping!
